An alumnus of BITS Pilani, he is a former officer of the Central Engineering Service, Govt. of India, 1989 Batch, with close to37 years of work experience in various capacities both in the govt. as well as the private sector.
As Dy. Director General, CPWD he led a Rs. 200 crores Digital Transformation project for implementing e-NIRMIT (Nationwide Intelligent Resource Management with Information Technology), a Cloud Hosted ERP ++ system (SAP S4/HANA Foundational Layer with several data capturing over layers using technologies/ platforms like BIM, BMS, SCADA, IoT, HOOPS etc.) in the public works sector by getting all210 work life cycle processes (with 3000+ functionalities, 30+ modules) – planning, contract management, works execution, closure, asset lifecycle management, HR and training– online to a Common Data Environment (CDE) and dashboard-based workflows.
He has carved out a rare niche — of being an academic while being a construction industry professional. He has been in leadership roles in Govt. of India as well as in the Govt. of Delhi including positions of Principal Director (Projects) wherein he planned and appraised infrastructure projects of value up to Rs. 1200 crores. He was also the Chief Project Manager for several infrastructure, transportation and built environment projects, the Chief Engineer for Contracts, Standards & Quality Assurance CPWD, the Superintending Engineer for structural designs at the Central Designs Organization, New Delhi and the leader of Business Process Re-Engineering / Systems Improvement projects of public works processes. He is an expert in using advanced Segmental Construction and Post-Tensioning Technology and has led the first Elevated Road Corridor Project having six lanes on a single central verge pillar in Delhi, as per international standards.
He has expertise in the areas of : planning, execution and management of large IT Projects, Digital Transformation Projects, Project Appraisal and Management, Contract Management, Consulting and Advisory Practices, formulating Public Policy for Infrastructure, Arbitration and Conciliation, Urban Transportation Infrastructure, Enterprise Systems for Public Works, Quality Management, Service Operations and Maintenance Management, Public Procurement Systems, Common Data Environment for Public Projects, preparing DPRs, and framing Preliminary Estimates and Contract Documents for large projects.
He has also been a member of several apex committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards for the construction industry, Indian Roads Congress, Quality Council of India, BMPTC, DST and the Indian Buildings Congress. He is also an advisor for India’s leading assets owner LIC for their infrastructure and land development projects as member of LIC’s Building Advisory Committee headed by the Chairman LIC.
His research interests include growth strategies and new venture decisions in uncertain environments; leadership;exploring how elements of the entrepreneurial process such as entrepreneur cognition scripts (venture arrangement, willingness and ability), risk-taking propensities, perception of uncertainty and availability of resources interact with each other and affect entrepreneurial cognitions leading to new venture decisions.
He has published in leading Scopus and ABDC (Category A)journals like Asian Case Research Journal and Journal of Management & Organization besides presenting papers in several international and national level conferences.
